Here’s How You Can Help Make a Difference
As Island Star Excursions, we believe in the strength of community support, especially in times of adversity. The recent fire outbreak in Lahaina, Maui, has deeply affected our fellow residents, and extending a helping hand is more crucial than ever. We’ve compiled a concise guide on how you can contribute to the recovery efforts, along with a list of reputable charities actively engaged in providing assistance.
Donations and Collection Points:
- Wailuku, Maui: Support those in need by donating non-perishable food, bottled water, and hygiene products at the War Memorial Complex field off Kanaloa Avenue. Drop-offs are welcomed from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Maui Food Bank is collecting and distributing food and other items to emergency victims.
- Items can be delivered and obtained at:
- Central Maui: King’s Cathedral (777 Maui Veterans Highway)
- South Maui: Calvary Chapel South Maui (320 Ohukai Rd., Ste. 420)
Charities to Contact:
- Salvation Army: Visit hawaii.salvationarmy.org to provide donations or explore volunteer opportunities. They’re actively providing meals to shelters across the islands.
- Maui Strong Fund: The Hawaiʻi Community Foundation has established this fund to assist wildfire-affected residents. To contribute, visit hawaiicommunityfoundation.org/maui-strong.
- Aloha for Maui: Partner with Hawaiʻi Bankers Association in their collection drive. Donations at member branches go towards the Maui Strong Fund at Hawaiʻi Community Foundation.
- Maui United Way: Stand united by donating to the Maui Fire and Disaster Relief fund at mauiunitedway.org/disasterrelief.
- Kākoʻo Maui: Collaborating with Alakaʻina Foundation and Kākoʻo Haleakalā, they’re accepting online donations at HawaiianCouncil.org/Maui.
- American Red Cross: Your support can be channeled to the Disaster Relief fund at redcross.org. A simple text of REDCROSS to 90999 donates $10.
- Americares U.S. Disaster Response Fund: Contribute through online donations that aid in emergency response and relief supplies.
- Maui Relief Survey: Share your services or donations via the survey at tinyurl.com/mauireliefsurvey to assist the County of Maui’s efforts.
